On a hot summer afternoon in the back beer garden of the original M.L. Rose, decision makers from both the Eighth Avenue and Charlotte locations are drinking a lot of beers, an ounce or so at a time.

There’s no question that Nashville’s burger game is strong. Heck, even Thrillist’s National Burger Critic Kevin Alexander came through town on a greasy tour of some of our best patties and did a pretty darned good job at identifying some of the top spots (for a carpetbagger). 

Ray, whose A. Ray Hospitality portfolio also includes The Sutler Saloon, Melrose Billiard Parlor and the soon-to-open Von Elrod’s Beer Garden & Sausage House, has purchased an M.L.Rose food truck, which he hopes to roll out before the neighborhood bar’s third location opens in the Capitol View development later this year.

M.L. Rose has two locations — one in West Nashville (pictures on the left) and one in the Melrose neighborhood (pictured on the right). Both locations have large patios with giant Jenga for entertainment and fire pits for ambience and warmth. The Melrose location is mostly covered, while the West location is mostly uncovered.\r\n

Both the Charlotte Avenue and Melrose locations offer giant Jenga, but the West Nashville spot gets the nod with its large front yard space and outdoor dart boards, making it an ideal spot to grab a beer, a burger and a good hang.
