Official Rules & Details

Competition Calendar:

• Registration Period

The registration period is Wednesday, August 21, 2024 through Friday, October 18, 2024.

Brewers must register their entries here. A $10 entry fee must be paid at the time of registration to hold your spot, but a $10 M.L.Rose coupon will be given when you drop off your entry. 

 

• Entry Drop Off Times

All beer entries must be physically dropped off on the back patio at the M.L.Rose Melrose location (2535 8^th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37204) during one of the following times. A representative will be on-site to receive and properly store your entry. If you need different accommodations, please email us at [email protected].

• Monday, October 28              9-11am or 5-7pm
• Tuesday, October 29              9-11am or 5-7pm
• Wednesday, October 30        9-11am or 5-7pm

All entries MUST be registered and received by Wednesday, October 30, 2024.

 

• Pre-Vetting Judging Period week of November 4th

Pre-vetting happens the week after drop off and will be judged blind. We will narrow down the number of entries that will go to the final judging panel.

 

• Final Judging Period week of November 11th

• Winner Announced

The winner will be determined by Friday, November 15th and winner will be contacted by phone or email. An announcement will be made on social media as well.

Eligibility:

This competition is open to any amateur homebrewer age 21 or older.

Note from the Competition Host:

We’re looking for the beer that will sell the best at M.L.Rose.

Judging Style Groups:

• Malt Forward (i.e. Porter, Stout, Amber Ale, Amber Lager, Brown Ale, Märzen etc.)
• Hop Forward (i.e. Hazy IPA, NEIPA, IPA, APA, DIPA, etc.)
• Bright & Crisp (i.e. Lager, Pilsner, Blonde Ale, etc.)
• Other (i.e. Saison, Wheat Beer, Hefeweizen, Belgian Pale, Belgian Blonde, Witbier, etc.)

Entry Rules:

• All brewers are limited to a maximum of 2 entries.
• This competition will be limited to a total of 60 entries, so early registration is encouraged.
• An entry consists of FOUR (4) bottles of at least 10 ounces with capped, corked, or swing-top closure. Please remove any identifying information, labels or caps. Bottles will not be returned to entrants.
• All entries must have an ABV of 7.9% or less
• No sour beers
• $10 entry fee to hold your spot – $10 M.L.Rose coupon will be given at entry drop off
• All entries must be handcrafted products, containing ingredients available to the general public, and made using private equipment by hobbyist brewers (i.e., no use of commercial facilities or Brew on Premises operations, supplies, etc.).
• All entries must be registered, delivered with the proper label attached and within the Entry Drop Off Period in order to be considered an official entry.

Bottle & Label Requirements:

• Register your entry here by Friday, October 18th. Note: If you’re entering 2 beers, you will need to fill out the form and pay the $10 entry fee two times.
• Since we know things can change, your entry labels will not be emailed to you until closer to the drop date. We will email you the week of October 14th to confirm beer name, style & judging category. Once your entry details are confirmed, your beer label will be created and emailed to you. If we do not hear from you, we will create and email entry labels using your original registration information you provided.
• Number of bottles required per entry is 4 (FOUR).
• Please bring your completed label, your ID, and your entries with you to the drop off.

• Drink your OWN draft beer at M.L.Rose!
• Launch party for you and up to 10 friends with food & drinks as you celebrate your winning brew!

• $500 M.L.Rose gift card

Category Winner Prize:

• Best in each of the 4 categories will win a $100 M.L.Rose gift card
